Draught @ BarVolo, Toronto. Pours hazy cherry red with small white-pinkish head. Clear aroma of berries, with notes of dust and touches and malt and barrel. Dusty and vinous flavour with sweetish notes of fruit and malt and touches of hops and barrel. Bitterish and dusty aftertaste with acidic notes. Soft carbonation. Decent.

(On tap at A Night with GLB and Amsterdam Brewery event @ Bar Hop, Sept 19 2014) Pours a slightly murky brownish red with a large whitish head that lingers with lace. Aroma is powerfully raspberry juice. That’s about it. Flavour also raspberry juice heavy, there is some wood towards the finish but the red wine character is blending with the raspberry. The finish is very dry and slightly tannic. I think that might be the influence of the barrel ageing. Mouthfeel is medium full, soft and effervescent carb. Barrel adds more to the finish and feel than the nose or initial palate. It’s definitely not bad, but I was expecting more from the barrel and yet it comes across like a fairly straight up framboise.

A dark reddish copper ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, beautiful raspberry jam, intense and pleasing, caramel, light maple, excellent. In mouth, a nice tart raspberry jam, light Brett, cork character, puckering, interesting. On tap at Sacred Oak fest.
