Bottle. Jet black pour, thin brown head that disappears quickly. Sweet nose and taste with notes of chocolate, malts, roasted earthiness and some booze. Not supercomplex, but definitely well rounded. Medium to heavy body, average carbo, long sweet boozy finish.

2015 version, bottle #1525. I’ve had this one in the basement for over a year. Pours black colour with long lasting beige head. Chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, alcoholic sweetness and even relatively strong hoppy notes are present in aroma. In taste it’s coffee and chocolate first, then some vanilla like notes appearfor a second and the hoppy bitterness afterwards. It has strong coffee bitterness in the long lasting finish. The ABV is perfectly hidden, heavy on body, yet easy to drink. Nice one.

Panda at home, thanks to Graham Grumbo, 28/03/24. black with a thin khaki cap that veers edgewards. Nose is dark malts, cacao nibs, charr, spice, dark fruit rinds. Taste comprises light roast, molasses, spice, chocolate shavings, cocoa sprinkle, toffee, light charr, fruit cake notes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a light kiss of alcohol. Okay easy sipping impy stout if a touch simplistic.

23/3/2024. From De Bierliefhebber online store. Impressive looking bottle. Pours black with a small bubbly/frothy beige head. Aroma is coffee, caramel, truffle, chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, roasted malt. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness. Moderate body, thinner than expected, average to soft carbonation. Lacked body, otherwise enjoyable.

Eher kurzer Abgang. 8/9/11/8/12/8
