Tried this beer on tap and on cask tonight at the Glebe brewpub (now at 5.8% ABV). Pours a dark amber colour with a creamy light beige head that has great retention and thick patchy lace. Smells like their typical grain malt, but with some caramel and mild hops. Slightly creamy mouthfeel because of the everlasting head. Nice dryness in the finish, but not too crazy. Perfumy malt taste with sweet caramel and the grapefruit hop kicking in the finish. Decent bitterness with an above average strength. Notes of nuts. Seems like more roasted malts than most IPA, but ends up balancing the hop very well. CASK: Unfiltered, smaller foamy head, wet mouthfeel. Fruity malt at first. Bitterness takes a long time to kick in. Nuttier finish. More flavours. More aromas of dark fruits, nut, coffee and roasted malt. Less bitterness. Interesting to try both, side-by-side.

The IPA is back after 4 years! A reddish maber IPA with a thin off white head. In aroma, pleasant fragrant c-hops, with citrusy notes, quite nice. In mouth, a classy IPA with biscuitty malts, cascade hops, very smooth and subdued, some sweetness in finale, a bit lighter bodied but good. On tap at brewpub, Feb. 1 2011.
