A reason to celebrate, the Oktoberfest is an amber lager, traditionally brewed for the granddaddy of all celebrations.

A dark amber lager with a thin off white head. A rather buttery malt, lots of butterscotch, cloying. In mouth, a lightly sweet caramel malt with some nice peaty notes, woody, but also some boiled corn. Medium bodied. If it wasn’t for the diacetyl and corn, this would be comparable to the Trois Mousquetaires Okto. Thanks Capflu.

Golden-amber colour. Strange - in the thick part of my Zlaty Bazant glass it looks bright and inviting but in the thinner part it looks dull and lifeless. Oooookay then. The aroma is of caramel/diacetyl (and lots of it) and unclean notes of spotaneously fermenting guava juice (guess how I know this smell). Very sweet palate has some cardboard, a bit of that rotten off-note from the aroma, and an overkill of caramel/diacteyl. The malts are heavy and dull, without an ounce of nuance. It’s not quite Zhigulyovskoe, but it’s in that ballpark. ОКТЯБРЬФЕСТ?

Sparkling amber, lasting beige head. Nose is primarily carmel. Taste is biscuity and carmel. Not sure how they managed this but is has an unclean taste similar to a dirty tap line. I thought I had a bad bottle, but after 3 samples, all are the same. Not really an Oktoberfest style, and a very poor effort. Cleanly brewed Martin? Obviously yours and mine were different!!!
