Bottle from Low Cost Beer. It pours jet black with a thick, rugged dark tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, intoxicating, dark chocolate, chocolate cake, heady notes of dark roast coffee, some dark fruits, rocky road, jammy wagon wheel and tunnocks teacakes. The taste is firmly dry, bitter - sweet upfront, rich roasted malt, touch of tar, slightly charred, dark chocolate, cacao nibs, touch of umami, liquorice, espresso, coffee and subdued alcohol presence with a rich roasted finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Age has probably made the mouth feel a touch foamy, but it's a tasty beer nonetheless.

Bottle from Low Cost Beers. Appearance - mostly opaque black but with a red chink at the bottom of the glass. Fluffy, tan head. Nose - toffee, honeycomb and milk chocolate. Taste - honeycomb, liquorice, chocolate and chewy caramel. Palate - chewy in texture, light to medium bodied, lightly roasty at the back. A bit thin, despite the chewy texture. Overall - it tastes a wee bit lighter than 5.8.

Bottle thanks to Ashton McCobb. Pours dark brown with a thick beige head. Aromas of toffee, light chocolate maybe. Taste does have some chocolate, but toffee dominates. Thin finish.
