Bottle from Drinkmonger. Pours hazy brown with a thin off-white head. Aromas of burnt wood and toffee, peat and salt. Taste is more of the same. Sweet wood finish. Gnarly. --- Beer merged from original tick of Alba 30th Anniversary - 2022 Expression on 27 Nov 2025 at 15:58 - Score: Appearance - 7 | Aroma - 7.5 | Flavor - 7.5 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7. Original review text: Bottle, back in the day, from Drinkmonger. Pours almost still and murky amber. Very woody and sherryish, as I recall. Bit more rounded that the Fraoch version though.

750ml direct from Williams Bros. The aroma is hazy deep - dark reddish - brown with a rather nice khaki head. The aroma is sweet sour, juicy, earthy, vinous, loads of tangy berry, blackcurrant, raspberry, bramble, toasty malts, peat reek, jammy, port, rather fruity smoky whisky, sappy and resin. The taste is dry, toasty, woody, sappy, resinous, spruce, fragrant, floral, so very fruity, jammy berry, bramble, blackcurrant, raspberry, fig, plum, prune, vinous, fortified wine, Islay whisky, peat reek, malt cake, medicinal, warming booze, earthy, booze soaked oak, damp basement and some mellow funk. Finish is drying, fruity and oaky. Fulsome body and moderate carbonation. Lovely depth of flavour. Moreish and satisfying. Must be the best beer they have ever made.
