Sayers Stout is brewed with roasted barley, chocolate malts and an array of British hops, delivering undertones of coffee, chocolate, honey and pine. With a distinctive full mouth feel, this dark brew is a fitting tribute to the London stouts of an industrial age.
WHAT’S IN A NAME
Tom Sayers was a 19th century, bare-knuckle prize fighter. His most famous match, against American champion John Heenan, was widely considered boxing’s first World Championship. It ended in chaos when spectators invaded the ring, and the referee finally declared a draw. No doubt Sayers enjoyed a few stouts after this epic encounter.

It is a regular stout, on the draught way, really watery for the style and the roasted malt is weak, drinkable but it was a bit boring, 23.12.17, drinking it in the flat of Geisser.

Yellow-beige head, medium, over cola-coloured beer. Rainwater, drop, liquorice, wood. Roast, light stoutacidity, sweet and almost no bitterness whatsoever; liquorice. Gives a medium bodied impression, probably lower; high carbonation. OK Stout, but really light in the end.

Keg at Barrel Project, Bermondsey with harrisoni. Dark brown, almost black with a ring of tan head. Some strong coffee and burned malt on the nose, along with suggestions of plum and slate. Sweet taste with gritty malt character, and some brown sugar in the finish. Medium carbonation. A moreish stout.

Can. An unclear dark brown stout with a nice beige head leaving some lacing. The aroma has some roasted malt and hints of caramel and bread, with coffee and some chocolate. It’s medium bodied and smooth on the palate, mostly on the dry side, with a nice carbonation level. There’s some residual sweetness in the mouth, with caramel and chocolate flavor, and a touch of bitterness. Caramel, roasted malts and some dark bread too. Good coffee flavor, lasting for a while. A delicious low ABV stout. 171020
