Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours darkest brown with a sturdy khaki head. The aroma is rich and toasty, bitter - sweet, damp wood, brown bread, dried fruits, raisin, sultana, glace cherry, fig rolls, fruit cake, malt loaf, orange peel and pleasing herb accents. The taste is initially dry, bitter - sweet, toasty, hearty malts, brown bread, fruit cake, fig rolls, splash of Dr Pepper, candi sugar, very fruity, raisin, cherry, plum, fug, red grape, perfumed tangerine vibes, restrained alcohol warmth, malt loaf, Christmas cake, rich herbal accents, something along to jagermeister amd some warming spice through the finish. Medium body and average, but fluffy carbonation. Nice depth of flavour. Nice ode to Pannepot, definitely has some pleasant similarities.

Clear red beer, a small head soon fizzes away. Smell is bready, with banana and a little pepper. Flavour has caramel, berries, a little spice, some toasty malt. Doesn't have the kick I'd expect for the strength, but it's distinct and the flavour lingers with the toasty pepper coming through a little in the finish too to make it smooth and warming.

Can from Appellation Wines. Appearance - orange to autumnal red and clear. Creamy beige head. Nose - banana and bubblegum. Creamy caramel and lightly jammy. Taste - more jam and caramel. Sweet spice and raisins. Palate - a bit thinner than expected. Sweet middle and finish. Overall - lacks the Belgian yeast zing.
