HOW IT TASTES
Dark stout with gentle crimson radiance. Stone fruits are balanced by blackcurrant and a hint of citrus. The finish is smooth and dry.

HERITAGE
Brewed during the Great War, the popularity of stout grew dramatically due to the alleged health benefits of drinking it. It is rumoured the marriage of powder blue and black in its original labels were chosen by Mrs D Lacon as a tribute to her husband who was lost during the conflict.

Cask (handpump) @ The Murderers, 2-8 Timber Hill, Norwich, Norfolk, England NR1 3LB. [ As Lacons Extra Stout ].Clear dark red brown colour with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, dark malt, dark fruit, moderate chocolate. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, roasted, dark fruit, moderate chocolate. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20150804] 7-4-7-3-14

Cask at the Paisley Beer Festival 2016. Pours opaque dark brown with a thin beige head. Aromas of citrus, wood. Taste is bitter, cooked orange peel, light chocolate. Spicy orange finish

Cask gravity @ GBBF 2015. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty caramel and chocolate aroma. Roasted malty caramel and chocolate flavor. Has a roasted malty caramel and chocolate finish.

GBBF Day 3. Cask. Clear dark red - brown beer, no head. Palate is light and semi dry, modest carbonation. Very mild dark malts, touch of dark chocolate. Mild dark fruits. Trace of spice. Light semi dry finish. Not bad.

Cask at gbbf 2015 day 4. Dark brown coloured pour with reddy hues and a steadfast loose tan head. Aroma is milk choc, smooth, light berry. Flavour is milky, roast, some lactose sweet, little chalk, berry fruits. Palate is medium light, chalky, moderate cask condition. Solid English stout.

From cask. Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malty and liqourice, hops fruity. Bitter, toasted dark malty and breadish. Dry and roasted dark malty finish.

Cask at GBBF 2015. It pours darkest brown with a small light tan head. The nose is soft, rich roast, burnt pine, light liquorice, rocky road, ashy and light spice. The taste is smooth, rich roast, toasty, spice, liquorice, pepper, oily, tar burnt toasty and leather with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Decent stout.
