Each small batch of Imperious is Temptation, our Imperial Russian Stout, aged in oak barrels. This year we have three versions. We aged some in rum, some in whisky, and this version has been aged in rum barrels. Ready now, but will continue to mature and improve over the next 3 to 5 years.

Panda thanks to Cloin. Clear deep amber brown beer, small bubbly dark tan head. Fairly light palate for a beer of this hefty. A mild dryness, decent fine minerally carbonation. Good dark chocolate malts, pretty cocoa and fair serving of earthy coffee with it. The rum barrelling is pretty light. A little boozy ripe fruity goodness but, coulda shoulda been a lot more in my book. Fairly light and semi dry finish. Yeah, a very solid base beer, bolder barrelling would have suited it. A lot.

Bottle, picked up from the Market Bottle Shop, Preston, 25/05/2025.
Black pour topped with a big old lasting khaki head.
Nose is chocolate, spice, dried fruit rinds, rummy depths.
Taste comprises chocolate, fruit cake, rum barrel, toffee, raisins, spice, dark malts.
Medium bodied with bite, light prickly carbonation, drying close with a balanced rising boost.
Okay BA sipper but a little stuck in 3rd gear.
