Sample thanks to Ashton McCobb . Pours hazy amber with a thin white head. Aromas of sherry, white wine, wood, mixed peel. Taste is dry, woody, nutty. Challenging.

Bottle from Hoptimism. Appearance - cloudy amber to brown. Thin white head. Low carbonation. Nose - interesting combination of sherry, dried fruit, wood and light smoke. Taste - dry woody, this time. Praline, nuts, rather than dried fruit this time. Boozy, edge. Palate - medium to full bodied. Dry, and quite gnarly. Overall - it feels like the barrel has taken all of fruit out of the beer. Feels a bit like an experiment that didn't go fully to plan.
Smokey 🔥

Bottle 018/178 and a 750ml picked up from Hoptimism website, Loughborough, Leicestershire, UK and consumed at home Friday 6th November on the first Friday of this second lockdown. Watching a couple of films on Netflix and after having Mean and Green Chicken Tikka Kebabs and an Everyday Goan Dal for tea tonight. Pours murky light puddle brown in colour with a slim head of bubbles that soon disappears. It's got a light smokiness mixed with fruit and the Moscatel barrel ageing is also noted. It's not my favourite from Torrside by any stretch, it's a little harsh, smokiness shows again, quite thick in the mouth almost a minty and then medicinal touch to it. Ok
