Black Tuesday is the perfect canvas for creativity in liquid form. Conner’s Cobbler was inspired by one of our very own’s passion for pastries and baking. A classic raspberry cobbler is, in fact, Conner’s specialty, so of course we named this Black Tuesday variant after him. This delectable imperial stout was aged in bourbon barrels then treated with a heavy dosing of fresh raspberries and Madagascar vanilla beans for a tasty treat, Black Tuesday style.
Tasting Notes:
The simple elegance of Black Tuesday makes it the ideal canvas for adjuncts. The first in this year’s Small-Batch Black Tuesday treatment series, crafted exclusively for our Society members, Conner’s Cobbler was inspired by a friendly debate and a passion for pastries. This raspberry cobbler-inspired iteration of Black Tuesday was treated with loads of fresh raspberries and Madagascar vanilla beans. The nose is unmistakably Black Tuesday, with warming aromas of brown sugar, caramel, figs, and toffee, with a distinct sharpness from the aroma of overly-ripe raspberries. The palate follows suit with bold notes of molasses, chocolate, and licorice, laced with an enhanced sense of vanilla both from the barrel and the addition of Madagascar vanilla beans, finishing with a subtle berry tartness and the taste of fresh, plump raspberries.

A deep dark stout with a very thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with dark fruits, licorice, vanilla, alcohol warmth, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with Maraschino cherry, alcohol warmth, light vanilla, very nice.

Bottle 375ml @ gunnfryd. Pours black with no head. Aroma has notes of raspberries, chocolate and roasted malt. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light sour with a long raspberry candy, chocolate, oak, vanilla, molasses and honey finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. The raspberry is a bit much in this one.

Bottle. A black one, oily and headless. Raspberry, vanilla and some roasted malt in the aroma, some dark chocolate and a hint of cinnamon. Spiced, with toffee, licorice and brown sugar. It's full-bodied and warming, softly carbonated, with a light sweetness. Roasted malts, coffee, brown sugar, some toffee and a good dash of raspberry in the flavor. Lasting finish. Too much raspberry going on here. Else nice. 241123

Bottle at House of Hops, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. Poured almost black in colour with little life. The aroma is big raspberry. The flavour is big sweet, with a smooth, super rich, tart juicy raspberry, vanilla palate. Over medium bodied with soft carbonation. Nicely balanced and good to have some sweetness to balance the alcohol. Awesome.
