Poured from a 12 oz can dated February 9, 2021. Aroma is very chocolate forward with lighter roast, caramel, and toffee notes. Medium light bourbon notes with light oak and alcohol notes. Hints of anise, tobacco and leather. Pours jet black with a medium large, thick, dark, mocha head that recedes slowly to a small, thick, creamy, film that lingers on the edges. Flavor is fairly sweet with lots of chocolate malt notes. Lighter roast, dark caramel and toffee notes with hints of anise, tobacco and leather. Moderate bourbon and oak notes with light alcohol spice. Medium bitterness. Mouthfeel is full bodied and a bit sticky with medium light carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid imperial stout. This isn't a pastry stout, but a solid old school BA imperial stout. Lots of bourbon barrel character.
