Bottle. Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. 5.8%. Yellowy straw colour. Decent, dense, bright white head. Sweaty, grainy malts. Green hops. Saison breadiness. Tad of lemon. Taste is soft sweet. Grassy bitter. Smooth, massaging mouthfeel. Light bitter finish. Pretty good, but it’s lacking something.

Bottle from BottleDog. Hazy golden body with a thin white head. Light lacing. Aroma of lime peel, lemon sherbet and white pepper. Flavour of green apple, grass, white bread and earthy hops. Medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. Clean and straightforward. Why wasn’t Brettanomyces yeast used? This could have been exceptional.

330ml bottle. Cloudy, yellow-ish, pale golden colour with average, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Yeasty spicy, herbal, grassy hoppy and fruity aroma, notes of quince, apple, lemon, some mustard seed, a cautious touch of thyme. Taste is slightly tart, peppery yeasty spicy, dry, slightly bitter, fruity, notes of quince, orange, orange zest, some white pepper, brine, white wine allusions; dry, grassy hoppy finish. Classic, indeed. Indeed, classic - instant classic.
