This variation on Heavy Forge, our imperial stout brewed only for the Order of the Anvil Club, is double Barrel-Aged in Maple Syrup Barrels and Vanilla Extract Barrels.

Dark brown, with a thin, bubbly head. The aroma has a good molasses accent, with a fair bit of vanilla kicking in, a touch of vanilla. On the palate, this has raisiny fruit, a burnt chocolate note, that little bit of vanilla. The finish shows evidence of strength, and the elements come together more 80% than 100%. But this is tasty.

750ml (thx, Phill!) @ Salesforce. Appearance: almost black with a beige head. Aroma: some nice light maple, moderately sweet, American oak. Taste: along the same lines, roasty with maple sweetness, vanilla. Overall: pretty good.

750mL bottle, pours jet black with a small tan head. Aroma has plenty of wood, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and dark sugars. Flavour is rich, with big maple syrup, lots of vanilla extract, boozy bourbon, and molasses. Things aren't coming together as well as usual for a BA AleSmith and this series in general -- the body is heavy, but the flavours are airy and lacking depth and refinement. That said, it's still great, just not at the heights of AleSmith BA beers.

Draft. Black bere with a brown head. Maple and brown sugar aroma with vanilla. Maple and caramel flavor with vanilla. Medium-plus bodied. Maple and caramel linger with vanilla.

Sampled from the tap at Red Cow North Loop. Pours near black with an earthy brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma is full of maple with some sweet dark grains and roast backing. Flavor has a nice combination of dark grains and maple with growing roast and some bitter chocolate underlying.

Bottle shared with friends. Pours clear black, medium tan head, good lacing. Aroma is mocha, vanilla prominent, maple present, bourbon. Flavor is medium plus sweet, light plus bitter. Medium body.
