(10/10/08) Draught sample at the brewpub in Clybourn, Chicago. Clear reddish copper color with an off-white head. Aroma of hops, citrus, some flowers, slightly caramelly malt, toasty hints and some fruitiness. Sweet caramelly flavor at first with some biscuit hints and honey notes and some fruits. Continues with fresh hoppy flavor with nice citric tones. Medium to full-bodied with a good rounded palate. I like it.

Draft taster at GI Clybourn. Brown body with a few highlights of lighter brown, thin white head. Can’t pick up much smell as the bar’s getting smokier, I’m afraid, and my hand smell of hand soap. But a very heady, warming alcohol taste up front. Oily caramel malts remind me of an Expedition. Yes, a doppel-Kilgubbin, if you will. Hops lay down a meek base of peppery bitterness in supplication to the powerful malt bill.
