Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Pours near black with a brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has roasted malts with dark grains and a hint of earthiness. Flavor has a bit of an earthy smoke note with roasted malts and dark grains supporting.

12oz bottle-thin lt brown-black. A-roasty/ashy/cocoa-dk malt. Lactose @cellar temp and the ashy/burnt fades too. T-ashy/roasty-dk malt, biting, earthy hops.

Draft, at Olde Main. Big coffee roast smell, that’s for sure. Bit of chocolate in the nose. And a tan head of light foam. Again, a sour taste that may be either a style or distraction. Bit of buckwheat honey in the finish.
