To the joyful and the young at heart we recommend Union Smile – the beer with a smile. It tastes best with a slice of lemon, which with its crisp and refreshing aroma perfectly complements this beer’s flavour.

Golden colour. Grainy, soapy aroma. Saazy hops lead the flavour, with bready malts backing. The body is light and the finish a bit watery but overall this is a relatively clean, inoffensive macrobrew.

Bottled. Yellow colour, small white head. Aroma is malts and hops with some slight sweet notes. Flavour is maize, malts and hops. Not totally hopeless case.

Bottled (bottle says 27.11.2006)
Pale yellow color, maybe slightly hazy with small white head. Maize and cardboard in the aroma. Unbalanced sweet and papery flavor of maize. My face is not smiling after this one. Cheap beers for drinking youth?

(Bottle 33 cl) Presumably there was a summer campaign for "Smile" on Rhodes this year - the back label is in Greek but the beer turns out to be Slovenian. And indeed it is your typical summer beer aimed at the "Corona-segment" - just better. Fully golden with a white, creamy head. Hoppy aroma, hoppy flavour but absolutely no bitterness on the palate. High drinkability. 230905

Pour is a bright yellow with a big foamy white head. Aroma is of course skunk thanks to the clear bottle. Flavor is syrupy and bland. Smile? More like frown.

Another more or less suprising find in Mercator. Yellow going gold color. Firm looking but very unstable head. There isn’t much of an aroma, but that’s good, because it stinks of boiled eggs. The taste is a little bit like lemon, and very, very slightly bitter. Very close to water. No aftertaste. Slovenian Corona. You can make something closely resembling this by squeezing a half of a rotten lemon in a glass of water, and pouring a drop of liquid from the "rotten eggs" stinkbomb. So bad that it’s funny, but after drinking it my smile quickly disappeared.

Bottled. Golden colour with no head. Offensive sweet corn aroma. Syrupy, metallic, sweet and unclean without a trace of hops. I'm not smiling...
