Frothy beige head stayed well on a dark mahogany coloured, finely effervescent body. Woody, vinous, aroma with honey & syrup hints. Thick creamy body, clean on the palate & a sharp tickle down the throat. This is so smooth. Malty to the fore with dark sugar & cherry followed by a crisp tangy back of plum, over stewed fruits, apple & grape. A rather nice sipper!

Murky brown beer, good size cream colour head. Caramel on the nose, jammy fruits and esters too. Smooth palate, semi dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Taste largely follows the nose, caramel malts and estery fruits. A little spice is added. Light dry finish. Delighted to see Little Valley brew a barleywine. It’s lacks a little richness and punch but it’s decent.

Halifax & Calder Beer Festival 2015. Deep, clear, copper reddish-brown in colour. Extremely sweet tasting, and its strength is very evident, although surprisingly not overly overbearing. Sugary throughout, but more so in its nose.
