Poured from a 16 oz can dated May 12, 2023. Aroma is malt forward with lots of caramel, toffee and toasted bread notes. Hints of treacle and some light burnt sugar notes. Light fruit notes of raisin, cherry and plum. Medium light alcohol notes. Light herbal, woody hop notes with a touch of citrus. Pours a dark brown with auburn hues on the edges with a large, thick, pillowy, dark tan head that recedes slowly to a small, creamy film that lingers. Fairly high lacing and long legs. Flavor is fairly sweet with lots of caramel and toffee layers as well as quite a bit of toasted bread and burnt sugar. Some light nuttiness and treacle with hints of roast. Moderately high to high bitterness and medium light alcohol notes. Light cherry, raisin and plum notes. Moderate woody, herbal hop notes with a touch of citrus character. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Low, but present astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid American barleywine that definitely skews towards the old school character - fairly bitter, quite a bit of hoo flavor and some hop aroma. Malt notes are a bit darker and richer than a traditional American style old school barleywine.

Can. Pours clear copper, medium beige head, good lacing. Aroma is full of caramel, toffee, hints of pine, marzipan, cherry, date. Flavor is merlin sweet, light plus bitter. No werthers here, but it's likely about as good as a non ba bwizzle gets. Full body.
