Black with a large foamy tan head that lingered and left good lacing. Dryish and toasty with cocoa and vanilla notes. Log finish. Moderately full bodied

12 ounce can from Total Wine Gainesville, 7/10/22. Mostly black, large brown head, good retention. Aroma of roast, marshmallow, brownie batter. Or... cake batter? Taste is sweet chocolate, vanilla. Thin, too sweet. Okay.

Black beer, thin head. Smells of chocolate and lactose. Flavour is rich and chocolatey, plenty of malt, lactose, slightly creamy. Very decent.

Crowley from DogTap Ellon. It pours opaque black with a sturdy, lasting tan head. The aroma is kind of what you would expect.... Intoxicating and sweet, intense milk chocolate, vanilla, icing sugar, toasted marshmallow, cake frosting and cookies. The taste is not as intense as the aroma suggests, bitter - sweet, decent roasted malt base, coffee grounds, chocolate, plenty of vanilla cake frosting, gooey marshmallow, chocolate gateaux, toasted spice, charred malt and a touch of alcohol with a roasty finish. Medium+ body and moderate carbonation. I was worried this would have been far too sweet and artificial but it's not all that. Decent enough for what it is.

From a can #12 on the advent calendar. Pour is big and black. Nose is a sweet milk stout with volatile effects. First taste commences as a thick rich sweeter almost cloying kind of brew, typical of these silly pastry stouts. The pastry thing has really ruined stouts AFAIC! Yea, a thicker more viscous flavored boozy version of an imperial milk stout, There, you have it. Middle is tolerable and the finish is simply nasty. Is stout doomed to become a mass of pastry beers like ale was bastardized like IPA influences. These pastry things can at times just be simply rude.

Can/Fest. A- Chocolate, vanilla, syrup, subtle alcohol. A- Black color, black liquid, tan head. T- Roasty, chocolate, mild bitterness. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, slightly sharp finish. O- Not bad. Guess I expected some more depth or sweetness but certainly drinkable.
