Bottle from Rakuten. Served in a pint glass. It pours a dark brown verging on black. Savory, roasty chocolate notes. Light bodied, almost thin but with a smooth palate. The taste is satisfying, dark licorice, soy, roast cocoa beans. A good beer but lighter than I usually like my porters.

(Bottle) Clear black with slight tan head. Subtle aroma of toffee with hints f coffee beans. Light body with fairly full carbonation. Quite a sweet and fruity foretaste gives way to dark roast and burnt notes for a clean finish. Not my favorite style, and I think not very true to the original, but that works for me.

Good chocolatey aroma. Very dark but thin appearance. Thin watery palate, worst part. Disappointing flavor - bit burnt, bitter, surprisingly tart, but not much there overall.

Pours black with ruby/copper highlights.Nose shows a lot of sweet crystal, they weren’t joking about the "generous" amounts of specialty malt. Also nice nutty notes and soft roasted hints.Flavours present more dominant roasted malt but includes some harsh notes. Not enough sweet malt (which is wierd considering the aroma).Good carbonation, not too high!

Bottle, 10C - improved as it warmed. Dark brown with a large frothy beige head that settles, laces and returns with a swirl. Aroma of coffee, mild roasted malt and grass - smells pretty hoppy. Some prunes and rasins too. Quite carbonated mouthfeel. Taste has plain chocolate and coffee with bare hints of dark fruits and dark sugars. Mildly roasted bitter finish also has some ash. Solid but staid. [6 4 6 3 13=3.2] 500ml bottle, 12C. Fresher hops and much lower carbonation. Some licorice. Quite dry at the end. Fairly hoppy porter.

(Bottle 33 cl) Clear reddish brown with a beige head. Discreet aroma of hard roasted malt. Medium body with a somewhat excessive carbonation. Hard roasted malt notes and a light malt bitter finish. 250308

Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin lazing tan head. The aroma is sweet and very roasted combined with notes of pumpernickel bread as well as hints of brewmash. The flavor is sweet malty combined with notes of caramel and toffee as well as a light notes of metal from the alcohol, leading to a dry bitter and slightly roasted finish. Thanks Papsoe for hauling this home from NZ.
