Bottle picked up at Kilchoman. It pours darkest brown with a quickly dissipating tan head. The aroma is rich roasted character, warming, smoked malt, peat reek, dark fruit, berry and charred wood. The taste is dry, sour dark fruits at the beginning, blueberry, blackberry, roasted malt, smoked action and prune with a drying finish. Light to medium body and fine to low carbonation. Better than the pale version. Fruity. A bit sour perhaps, but kind of OK.

Aus der Flasche am 2016-05 getrunken. Leicht getorte Gerste von der Kilchoman Destillerie mit leichter Waldfrucht trifft auf ein klassiches aber auch langweiliges Stout.

500ml bottle shared with Ashton McCobb. Pours clear dark brown with a thin beige head. LOVELY OLIVE SHEEN. Aromas of woody toffee, biscuit. Taste is liquorice, treacle, faint smoke, some coffee at the back. Roasted bitter finish. Unexpectedly good.

Bottle from Islay Ales. Appearance - black olive sheen or gloss. Great fawn head. Nose - light charcoal with toffee, caramel and molasses. Biscuits on the back. Taste - tonnes of liquorice and charcoal at the front. Mild toffee and molasses. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy yet crunchy texture and a long dry if slightly gnarly finish. Overall - a challenging but rewarding dry stout.

50cl bottle @PBF XI. Pours black in color with a thick brown head. That same thin peaty aroma as in the other one from this brewery. Acidic, roasty malty flavor with some ash and pear.
