Poured from a 375 ml bottle. Aroma is malt forward with lots of dark caramel and toffee notes. Lighter notes of chocolate, roast and toasted bread. Light bourbon notes and faint oak with hints of vanilla and honey. Medium light alcohol notes. Pours black with dark brown hues on the edges and a fairly small, thick, light mocha head that recedes steadily to the edges where a small film lingers. Light lacing and long legs. Flavor is fairly sweet with lots of dark caramel, toffee and chocolate notes. Lighter notes of roast, honey and toasted bread. Moderate bitterness and medium alcohol notes. Light notes of prune, raisin, black licorice, cinnamon and dried cherries. Light bourbon notes and faint oak. Mouthfeel is full bodied and a bit sticky with medium carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall a solid black barleywine. It's got a malt profile I wasn't necessarily expecting with a stout-like character but more of a barleywine mouthfeel. Pretty sweet with some dark fruit and spice notes. Flavor is odd, but not in a bad way.
