On tap at the Oakland Arbor location. Aroma is fairly vanilla forward with lots of chocolate notes as well. Lighter roast, molasses, dark caramel and toffee. Light alcohol notes. Pours jet black with a medium small, fairly thick, dark mocha head that recedes fairly steadily to the edges where it lingers. Flavor is rather sweet with lots of milk chocolate notes as well as dark caramel and toffee. Lighter roast and molasses notes. Medium bitterness and moderate alcohol notes. Rather strong vanilla notes. Some anise notes as well. Mouthfeel is full bodied and a bit silky but not overly thick with medium carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Light lacing and long legs. Overall, a decent imperial stout but not one I love. The vanilla notes are very strong, but the anise notes in the base still come through. The beer has a bit of an identity crisis between an old school imperial stout and a new school pastry stout. The malt notes are very old school as is the body, but the vanilla is straight pastry stout.
