About a month ago, our good friend Peter Hoey, the brewmaster at Urban Roots, escaped the Sacramento heat and paid us a visit. Together we crafted a thirst quenching West Coast IPA specifically designed to neutralize the effects of relentless sunshine and triple digit temperatures. An initial dry hop of Citra and Mosaic was augmented by a secondary addition of HBC 586, Riwaka and Cascade. Resinous citrus, a wisp of herbal dankness and a hint of pine sap bring a grove of shade trees to mind. In their cool shadow, handfuls of snow peach, honey crisp apple and cotton candy grapes wait to be devoured. Take a load off, relax, and feel the cooling effects of each sip.

Poured from a 16 oz can dated August 29, 2023. Aroma is fairly fruity with lots of passion fruit, mango, pineapple, guava and tropical citrus. Hints of stone fruit as well. Light cracker malt notes and hints of alcohol. Pours a fairly clear, pale golden color with a medium large, fairly thick, fluffy, white head that recedes steadily to the edges where it lingers in clumps. Medium light lacing and small legs. Flavor is slightly sweet with medium light grain notes. Fairly high bitterness and light alcohol notes. Quite fruity hop profile in the flavor as well with quite a bit of passion fruit, pineapple and tropical citrus. Lighter notes of guava and mango. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid IPA. Light, slightly dry malt profile and finish. Fairly strong bitterness that lingers a bit in the finish. Rather fruity hop profile in aroma and flavor.
