Draught at the brewery. Black with lace, looks really nice. Minty chocolate nose, grassy mint. Flavor is mint with something like sour kraut with caraway seeds, cabbage, with chocolate. Freaky and interesting. Fun but wacky. Not great but really fun.

From tap at the brewery. Pours hazy dark brown to black with a small chocolate brown head. Aroma is solid annis seed and phenolic. Roasted dark malty, mint and chocolate. Even more mint from the back of the nose. Lasting mint impression. Solid lasting mint flavour.

Bottle at the Kernel. Very dark brown beer, tidy pale tan head. Chocolatey malt and sweet malt. Mild mint. Mild minerals. Neutral finish - it’s all a bit disjointed and insipid - pretty disappointing.

Bottle @ Dan’s house, courtesy of arminjewell. Thanks Armin! Dark brown appearance with a light brown head. Minty, roasts dark chocolate, light espresso aroma. Minty, sprucey, sappy, dark chocolate malty flavor that has the mint a little overdone.

Bomber from Beverages 4 Less in Santee, CA. Pours dark brown/black with a 3 finger creamy tan head. Aroma is mint chocolate with some gritty charred malt underlayment. Med at least body. Flavor is kind of chalky mint with milk chocolate and some dark roast malt. Certainly a brew that is distinctively different.

Bottle thanks to Peter! Pours black with brown head. Nose/taste is fresh mint, chocolate and light vanilla notes. The nose is decently balanced with fresh mint leaves leading the way through the maze of chocolate and hints of vanilla. In the taste, the mint really overpowers everything a little too much for my liking, but it is still a pleasant lighter-bodied porter.

(From notes). Tap @ Stuffed Sandwich, end of 2009. Color is black. Not much head. Aroma: chocolate, peppermint, sweet, roast. Flavor is (medium) sweet. Medium bodied. Finishes with lots of chocolate. Surprisingly nice, albeit on the sweet side, but quite refreshing because of the mint.

On tap. Pours with a large, tan head over a near black body. Head fades to a ring. Aroma...well it smells exactly like a hotel room pillow chocolate. Green herbal mint. Unique aroma that is sweet. Not sure how to rate that numerically as it smells like the real deal! Flavor does not hold its end up as well. Taste is the same but a whole lot drier, which emphasizes the mint over the chocolate. The end result is akin to Scope or some other minty mouthwash with a bit of anise. They need to add some lactose, or some unfermentable, to sweeten this beer up to allow the chocolate to balance out the mint. Mouthfeel is somewhat dry and thin.
