Re-rating (previous 3.3, 3.2) Review based on the BJCP2021 guidelines (style 9A). Bottle 33 cl - Batch F104EX1 (BB 25.03.2025). AROMA: medium-high malt aroma with caramel and maillard notes (toasted breadcrust) with a toasty background. APPEARANCE: dark ambar color and clear. medium-low beige head with medium retention. TASTE: initial medium malt flavor with notes of caramel and toasted bread crust. medium-high bitterness with a dry finish and faintly roasted. PALATE: medium to medium-high body with medium-low carbonation. slight alcohol warmth. odd astringency present. OVERALL: a doppelbock with good malt presence, although the flavor points to roasted and with an unusual dryness and astringency.
