På fat på Prags ölmuseum. Kraftig och rejält humlad. Lätt karamellig med kådig ädelhumle. Gott.

Draught at U Orloje, Žatec. Slightly cloudy, gold colored. AROMA- malty, noble hops, Saaz. FLAVOR- lightly sweet, lightly bitter, malty, grainy, lots of noble hops, strong and nice Saaz character. Medium bodied. Very good lager.

0.75l bottle from Pivotéka DBK. So... yeah, the old Žatecký pivovar closed, with one of the side buildings converted into a microbrewery to which Carlsberg rents the space and I guess the brands as well. Good news for brands and tradition in a way... let's see what they did to the namesake of the newly opened company, their flagship now I guess, apart from lowering the alcohol (and °P). Poured a clear, darker golden body. Pungent aroma, not in a good way, rough grain mixing with huge DMS, with traces of flowers and herbs - some hops are there. Lighter, smoother taste initial, dryish, going into a bitterish finish. Vegetal and grainy notes do persist, huge DMS again, husky notes, with the hops somewhat saving something, giving a pleasant herbal presence. I mean, maybe it's the bottling process (doubtful), but this builds up a mild tannin-like astringency in the finish as well, making it hard to finish. It has potential underneath - and I could finish it in the end once they cleared out, and let's hope it irons out the currently somewhat major issues.
