Scottish-Style Stout with Coffee Added

While we love massive hulking dark beers, sometimes you want to drink a whole can of stout by yourself! Despite its restrained strength, we don't sacrifice malt-intensity or body. The base stout was inspired by Scottish ales with Golden Promise pale malt, dark caramel malt, and roasted barley. We add a twist with Peruvian Tabaconas coffee beans locally roasted and then added mere days before canning. The coffee intensifies the chocolate-notes from the malt, while bringing its own grape and dried fruit aromatics.

Cheers,
Mike & Scott

Nice roasted coffee stout. Sapwood have really impressed me, and have again. Thanks JD! Attempt at a palate cleanser after that Troon. See how it compares to Monkish.

(Thanks, Andy! Nimbleprop) Can. A- Roasty, malt, coffee. A- Black color, dark liquid, light brown head. T- Malted milk balls, coffee, roasty, mild caramel. P- Medium body, creamy texture, slightly flat carbonation, balanced finish. O- As close as I had to an Irish beer for St. Patty's day. I really appreciate the amount of flavor in this light of a stout. Kinda a nice break from big pastry stouts. Lots of roasted coffee and malted chocolate milk throughout.

16oz can pours a thick black with an attractive cap of mocha head.  Nose has malt, cola, nutty coffee, some milk chocolate, earthy.  Flavor has mocha, chocolate malt balls, some malt soda, some chocolate biscuit.  Finishes dry, nutty.  Very approachable.  8 5 8 4 15
