Cask @ Harp, London. Almost black with a lasting beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel and a little roasted malt. Flavor is medium sweet and light bitter. Sweet finish. 270413

Cask at the Crosse Keys, JDW - London. Pours deep brown with a frothy, tan head. Nose carries faint roasted malts and some minerals. Light sweet flavor with well toasted bread, bits of ash and charred malts, light burnt bread, subtle burnt leaves. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Good condition. Lightly drying to finish with further minerals, ash, lightly sugary burnt bread. It’s always a real feat when a brewery makes an interesting, tasty mild, and this one is easily both.

Cask handpump at The Phoenix, Canterbury. Dark ruby mild, I like the sour dark fruit aroma. It’s almost like an old ale. Plenty of dark fruit jam. Oddly enjoyable.
