On tap at Crescent Moon, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out lots of coffee upfront, with moderate roast. Flavour is bold, with oats, coffee and medium roast. Bitter and dry. Very good.

Super deep, almost pure black coloured body with a rich, three to four centimetre tall rich brown head that is fairly frothy and leaves a very ugly lace on the sides of the glass. Aroma of lactose, tons of roasted malt, alcohol, coffee, bitter nuts and earth with a dose of caramelised sugars and some pitted fruits are noticeable, but the bitterness throughout is pungent and entirely front and centre. Medium-bodied; Super strong bittered nuts and anise flavour with licorice, some grain, a dose of alcohol and pungency shows through with a good deal of alcohol and the strongest by far is the pure coffee flavours which are very bitter and obtuse. Aftertaste shows some of the lactose and cream notes at first with a dash of licorice, some nuts, earth and caramel and ending with a large coffee and rich malt flavour at the tail end. Overall, a nice and very flavourful beer with a lot of anise, coffee, caramel and nutty flavours that show well and show a lot of complexities, with a strong flavour, but not too pungent body from the malts. Good to try, and perhaps if a bit more malt and body were added, it would make this a bit more robust. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Hy-Vee in Omaha [Papillion], Nebraska on 06-November-2018 for US$1,99 sampled in my hotel room here in Council Bluffs, Iowa a day later on 07-November-2018.

Draft. A- Coffee. A- Black color, black liquid, tan head. T- Coffee, roasty, bitter. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, roasty finish. O- Decent. Loaded with coffee. One of those beers that if it had a bigger brewery name it would probably get a ton of recognition. Pretty decent.
