2 pints of cask, delivered to my door from the brewery. Six quid, absolute bargain. Pours dark brown with a thin head. Aroma is toast, cola, plum and vanilla. Taste has plum throughtout with a raisin and caramel finish. This is a nice mild that would have been loads better in the pub, but I'm not taking marks off for that. I'm glad that a local brewery I'm a fan of, is doing their best to stay afloat and keep serving beers.

Gravity cask at the 2020 Leicester Beer Festival. Light to mid-brown, translucent with a ring of beige/khaki head. Plum aroma, some chocokate malt, a light vegetal character. Sweet taste with the vanilla coming through and the plum.notes providing enough bitterness to round off the long finish. More plum in the aftertaste with the suggestion of sweet milk. Decent but maybe I expected better.

7/2/2020. Cask at Cherry Reds Cafe-Bar, Birmingham. Pours dark plum red brown with a small pale beige head. Aroma of sweet malt, plum jam, milk chocolate, light roasting and dark fruits. Quite heavy sweetness and light bitterness. Moderate body, slight oily texture, soft carbonation. Sweet plumy and slightly medicinal finish. Good. But it is sweet.

On tap at Hogshead, Wolverhampton Just a hint of vanilla in the nose. Pours a rich ruby red with a small white head. Slow to settle with very little carbonation and good lacing. The mouthfeel is initially vanilla and general sweetness before the underlying taste of plum skins comes through. The finish is more plumy and fleshy. Very nice beer overall. All the better for the plums being understated rather than “in your face” as in some other plum beers.
