This is our 4th barrel aged annual EiE Imperial Stout release conditioned in Norfolk Pinot Noir wine barrels from Flint Vineyard. This is a big beer that is deceptively easy drinking with roasted dark chocolate flavours layered over complex vanilla & red fruit from the barrels.

Can. A definite purplish hue on this almost opaque dark black brown beer, good tan head. Smooth palate, a very mild dryness, an appropriate level of fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts, a smooth but light dark malt cream. Modest chocolate, also smooth. The Pinot Noir barrel really is coming through well and has a natural fresh wine richness with dark berries coming through on the back end along with a little spice. Nice job, a winey showcase but retains enough of the dark malt base to not lose the core Impy character. Very drinkable.

15/2/2021. Can sample courtesy of SHIG, cheers. Pours black with a small frothy beige coloured head. Aroma is boozy, red wine, woody, dark chocolate, roasted malt, touch of coconut biscuit. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness. Medium to full body, smooth texture, soft carbonation. Warming finish. The Pinot Noir comes through very nicely. Also 1/11/2025. Carefully aged can courtesy of Colin/ITFCDan. Delicious drop.

Panda at home, thanks to SHIG, 29/01/21. Black with a khaki covering that veers edgeward. Nose is cacao nibs, good red wine barrel vibes, dark malts, red grape must, light spice. Taste comprises sweet fruits notes, chocolate, brown sugars, plummy notes, light roast, spice, vinous tones, grape must. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a kiss of balanced alcohol. Interesting Impy ... gets the Pinot Noir across well ... fair complex effort.
