An experimental beer brewed in the heart of lockdown. We wanted something much stronger to see us through. This amber-golden coloured beer has a great smell of cinnamon and clove. On having a mouthful those cinnamon and clove notes come bursting through again along with a sweet but spicy aftertaste on the tongue.

Bottle shared courtesy of Grumbo. Aroma of Christmas, Christmas spices, cinnamon, winterberries, cranberries and biscuits. Berry spice comes through to taste with a slightly drying finish. Very nice.

Cask at Alexandra, Derby. Pours a cloudy golden yellow with a small white head. The nose has the typical Belgian bubblegum esters plus hints of spices too. In the mouth it has an ooverall sweetness featuring bananas, cinnamon and raisins with some general spiciness also. Malts come through in the finish. Very nice – I can’t believe it’s not Belgian !

Sample thanks to Grumbo: Poured an rusted orange with a white color head. Aroma is spicy, cloves and cinnamon, fruits, malts. Taste is more spicy, cinnamon, cloves, malty. Not my cup of tea.

7/8/2021. Bottle bought at the brewery gate. Pours clear pale amber with a frothy white head. Super aroma, warming Christmas spice, cinnamon, biscuit, fruit cake, berries, malt, touch of yeast. Medium sweetness and light bitterness. Moderate body, soft carbonation. Very nicely done, just lacked a bit of body.
