Panda at home, thanks to Graham Grumbo, 21/12/23. Black with a khaki head that settles to a swirl. Nose is chocolate, dark malts, nutty, light spice, toffee crisp, dried fruit rinds. Taste comprises chocolate, dark malts, hazelnut, spice, light coconut shavings, dried fruit rinds. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced kiss of alcohol. Tidy old skool leaning impy stout ... has a good bitter bite about it compared to the pastry era sweet bois.

13/12/2023. Can from New Zealand Beer Collective. Pours black with a small frothy tan coloured head. Aroma is hoppy, tropical, roasted malt, chocolate, toffee, coffee, waxy, coconut, hints of strawberry and pine. Medium sweetness, moderate roasted bitterness, slight tart edge. Quite full bodied, sticky, average carbonation. Developing roasty bitter finish. Nicely done.

250ml can as part of a delivery from New Zealand Beer Collective and drunk at home. So very dark brown. Almost black. A ring of thick tan head. Chocolate, caramel, molasses, rubber in the aroma. Taste is an intense spicy bittersweet with dark single estate chocolate, and a medicinal note in the ling finish. Full body with soft to medium carbonation. Unrelenting and gorgeous.

Can. Pretty much an opaque dark brown beer, decent tan head. Palate is light for the abv, light and a little fluffy. Decent fine carbonation. Soft dark malts. A pleasant mix of dark chocolate Malteasers and Cappuccino. The Sabro hops do provide a hint of the tropicals but it really is only a light touch and the coconut comes through first with some ripe pineapple emerging on the end along with mild alcohol spice. An intriguing mix of flavours and for me it pulls it off. Goes down very easy.
