Bottle. Taste is cola, lightly herbal, cherry, yeasty. Feels a touch heavy and not quite there. Bit flat. Caramel at the finish.

Pours virtually black from the bottle. Tall, frothy tan head that turns creamy. Strong notes of coffee and chocolate in the aroma. Then the floral notes, something sour, a bit vinegary, a light hint of brett. But overall much more of a typical stout aroma than I was expecting. Taste is sweet up front, full of heavy cream and chocolate. The sourness plays out at the finish, which is long and a touch warming. Body is quite thick with an oily viscosity. Overall very nice. A lot of stout-like flavors and yet very refreshing.

Pours 275ml of tan foam into my Smuttlabs beaker under very careful pour. Pumpernickel and funk aromas. Dry and sharp with dusty sour caramel and Brett front to back. Lasting marshmallow finish.

12 ounce can from Total Wine Manassas, 8/2/16. Clear amber, large foamy white head, good retention. Aroma of orange juice. The taste is pale malt, orange juice, a bit of pith. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness, juicy.

Charcoal, barnyard, and mulberry nose. Black, thick unrelenting beige head, decent lacing. Charred oak, mulberry, burned toast. Faint tobacco and creme brulee finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Char bitterness. Not much farmhouse character, but that’s fine. This is more of a porter, but a good one once it is allowed to warm to room temperature.

Bottle shared. Thanks Jay! Black with cola-like carbonation. Slight Belgian farmhouse nose with baker’s chocolate. Cola-like mouthfeel with some spices. Chalky on the finish. Interesting drop. --- Beer merged from original tick of Smuttlabs: Nótt Dark Farmhouse Ale on 03 May 2016 at 16:55 - Score: 6. Original review text: Light saison nose. Dark chocolate. Chalky. Not bad. One dimensional.

Keg pour into taster at brewery. Appearance is opaque black with finger-width beige head which dissipated quickly. Aroma is roasted malt with chocolate, smoke. Taste is big bitter dominant over sweet coffee, chocolate, roasted smoky flavor with mild sour fruit finish (enough to be interesting without going overboard). Palate is medium bodied, average carbonation with late zing, mild sour finish. Overall, a nice mix of things going on from the sweet/bitter to the smokiness to the light sour. Very good.
