Bottle. Cloudy gold in color with a three finger head. Taste and aroma is an average witbier. Nothing to write home to Belgium about.

Bottiglia.

# 890; 10/2017. Hodně kořeněný (skořice, hřebíček) witbier s lehkými, ještě nerušivými jablečnými tóny.

Slovenian attempt at classic Belgian witbier, spiced with coriander seed and curaçao as the classic recipe prescribes, but also with black pepper to lend it an altogether different twist... Bottle with nice and modern label, thanks again Davor! Snow white, regular, frothy, clearly 'wheat-enhanced', extremely stable head over a pale golden beer with olive-greenish tinge, initially as good as clear but hazy with sediment, showing fine strings of sparkling. Aroma of dusty old coriander seed, soap, old lemon peel, straw, dough, dust, spoiled parsnip, old polyester doormat, old potatoes, green banana peel and some vague background DMS (overcooked white cabbage). Crisp, fruity onset, green banana, green apple and unripe pear but less exuberantly fruity than most Belgian wits would be; sharply stinging carbonation, very minerally. Clear wheat slickness ensues, paired with a grainy 'barleyness' and a 'dull', dim coriander spiciness as well as a dash of old, worn-out lemon zest which I assume represents the curaçao. A powdery, bit grassy bitterishness from the hops and - indistinguishable - the pepper mixes in in the tail, but only faintly so, too faint in fact to contribute significantly to the beer. The DMS meanwhile returns retronasally. Well, drinkable alright, but a bit too 'stinky' in the sulfuric way for me and lacking a bit in the spicy freshness a well-studied witbier should show. That said, though, I must admit that I did not see it coming: this could have been brewed the exact same way by some or other Belgian microbrewer as well, which I guess is kind of an accomplishment on its own.

Quite hazy golden coloured body with a light white straw coloured glow, all with a thinnish, single centimetre tall pure white head. Aroma of grass, coriander seed, light wheat, yeast, a touch of very subtle spices and a dose of bubble gum and citrus towards the end. Light-bodied; Strong wheat and coriander seed flavours with a big dash of the yeast and spice right behind, showing a pure, but very clean complexity from the malts and dry yeast flavours all coupled together, with a rather large citrusey and slighty sweet flavour from some curacao and oranges. Aftertaste shows mostly dry and grassier notes with the yeast and coriander seed showing through and a dose of the alcohol from the wheat as well. Overall, a nice and dry almost saison-y wit with some nice curacao and light spiced components throughout which make this complex, enjoyable, but still light and easily drinkable. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Lidl [Grocery] in Manassas, Virginia on 06-October-2018 for US$1,99 sampled at my house here in Washington on 22-October-2018.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a hazy, grayish yellow with a white head. Nose fairly authentic for the style with yeast and coriander. Medium body, heavily carbonated, not as fruity and fresh as the best examples, kinda sulphurous and surprisingly hoppy. A decent drop tho. 011018
