A nod to the traditional pale stouts of yesteryear, when the term ‘stout’ was used to denote a beer’s strength not colour. Our version is a 6.4% malty pale stout using British hops to create a true-to-style beer. Regular and oak-aged versions available.

Cask (gravity) @ NWAF 2015, National Winter Ales Festival (2015), The Roundhouse, Pride Park, Derby, Derbyshire, England, DE24 8JE. [ As Brass Castle Pale Stout ].Light unclear medium orange color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, pale malt, banana. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a long duration, fruity, dried fruit, sweet sweet malt, sweet fruit. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. Not thing like a pale stout at all !! [20150212] 6-2-5-3-12

Cask @ Leeds Brewery Tap, Leeds. Amber coloured with small head, nothing like a stout at all about this ale. Strong tasting but hops are evident, as well as a low fruitiness.

Chelmsford Winter Beer Festival. KEGS. Cask. Hazy gold beer, untidy bubbly white head. Palate is smooth and slightly viscous. Skunky pale malts, little spice. Slightly jammy citrus, orange and grapefruit. Little cakey sweetness before a mildly spicy semi dry finish. Not bad, certainly interesting.

Pale blond with light haze. Very smooth and creamy. Some hints of dessert apple. Quite low on bitterness.
