So, perhaps controversial, but I think the nose here is more exciting than Aecht Schlenkerla. Stunning, lovely wood smoke, with fruity tinges. It doesn’t quite live up to those, but an excellent example of the style. Lovely smoky malt, smooth body.

Pour is a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is a smoke a little ham. Flavor is is where the meat in the name comes in. Big smoked ham and bacon bomb. FInish leaves all kinds of smoke and meat on the tongue. Not much nuance to this beer, it's all about the smoke. The name the big meat is no joke here. Maybe a little too meaty for most tastes.

Smoky without being overpowering, with a heavy caramel backbone mixed with notes of apple, dried fruit, and flowers. Comes across sweet, even for a bock, not layered enough for the style. Lacks personality, which should never be an issue with a rauchbier.

16 oz can poured, thanks to Keven. A dark, but clean copper brown pour. Moderate to heavy smoked aroma. A meat reminder, as the can sort of suggests. A rich malt that is buried by a campfire smoke. Toasty. Cool late linger. Love to sip on this beer. Full of interesting flavors. Fun try
