Bottle at ChrisO’s Pre - GBBF tasting. It pours hazy mahogany red - brown with a small beige head. The nose is sweet, juicy, rich fruits, fruit cake, earth, sweet bourbon, wood and vanilla. The taste is rich, oily fruit cake, raisin, sultana, warming booze, toffee, dried fruits, cranberry, brown bread and wood with some warmth on the finish. Full body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Pretty nice gear.

Pre GBBF tasting at Chris and Ruth’s. Hazy amber beer, good cream coluur head. Light bourbon nose. Palate is light, semi dry and with mild fine carbonation. Tangy smooth bourbon. Some vanilla. Mild bourbon soaked fruits. Light finish. Nice. 3.5

Craft Brixton. Keg. Sold as Port Barrel but the brewers say it was Bourbon Barrel. Hazy deep amber beer, no head. Nice musty vintage port nose. Palate is light and a little crisp. Light wood. Good ripe porty red berry fruits. Light finish. Very Porty. Yet it is bourbon barrel. Mmmmmm unconvinced. But it’s very nice.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours amber with a slight haze and a masive, off-white head with excellent retention. Very sweet, vanillaish Bourbon aroma. Rich, malty, caramellish body, tons of good Bourbon accents. An amazing enhancement of an already great beer. 270315

Draught @ All In Beer Fest 2014. Pours murky deep wooden brown with a creamy goldenish beige head that leaves some thick lacing on the glass while dissipating. Smell is sweet, malty and fruity with caramel, toffee, oatmeal, vanilla fudge, charred wood, coconut milk, baked pears, caramelized almonds and hints of glue-like alcohol. Taste is sweet, bitter and malty with caramel, toffee, vanilla fudge, charred wood, baked pears, ripe mealy apples, coconut milk, bourbon alcohol, hay and hints of sweet dark bread and honey. mouthfeel is soft, round, tiny boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet, bitter and malty with caramel, toffee, charred wood, baked pears, coconut milk, bourbon alcohol, vanilla fudge and hay. Quite good and a huge improvement over the base beer but I’m still not a huge fan of these estery pear and apple notes in my barley wines. --- Beer merged from original tick of Ales In Wineyland (Bourbon Barrel Aged) on 28 Jun 2015 at 23:11 - Score: 7. Original review text: To the left. Developing nicely... Still a bit heavy on the pear esters but this is getting good.

Draught. Light hazy deep brown liquid with small to medium light tan head. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, toffee, caramel, dried fruit and raw sugar. Taste is light to medium sweet and light to medium bitter with notes of raw sugar, toffee, bourbon and vanilla. Medium bodied with medium to high carbonation. Bit over carbonated but otherwise nice. Lots of bourbon notes.
