Cask (gravity) @ NWAF 2015, National Winter Ales Festival (2015), The Roundhouse, Pride Park, Derby, Derbyshire, England, DE24 8JE. [ As Drygate Reflex Red Ale ].Clear medium yellow - amber orange color with a small to average, open and frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, fruity malt, pale malt, moderate hoppy, orange - citrus. Flavor is moderate sweet and light moderate bitter with a average to long duration, fruity, orange, pale malt. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20150211]

Tried at the Lincoln beer festival 2016. Amber colour with a white head slight floral orange and citrus aroma and taste. Mid body.

Cask at Guildford Arms. It pours clear slightly reddish amber with a decent white head. The nose is bitter - sweet, caramel, red fruits and citrus peel. The taste is bitter, lots of waxy citrus peel, pink grapefruit, rather soapy and some astringency with a dry, citrusy finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. A bit soap y and rough around the edges. Meh.

500ml bottle from Aldi. Cloudy orange with a thick white head. Sweet, fruity aroma, dry taste, slightly sour, with a spicy finish. Ok, but not Drygate’s finest moment

500ml bottle from Aldi. Pours hazy red-brown, thick off-white head. Aromas are woody, pine, light yeasty spice, light toffee. Taste is woody too, more yeast, more spice. Big sweet kick at the end. Quite a mouthful. Good body.

Hazy, burnt-orange beer with a thick frothy head. Smells of tropical fruit and there’s a bit of a musty pine scent in there too. Flavour has a bit of the tropical fruit in there too. A touch of resinous pine as well, but there’s not much strength to it. In the mouth it feels a touch watery and the aftertaste is only slight and a touch sour. It’s not bad but it feels a bit of a waste. A good combination of flavours, it just needs a bit of backbone.

On cask @ the Standing Order. Appearance - deep amber with a nice head. Nose - a bit elusive. Light toffee or caramel. Taste - toffee and lemon combo. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy yet tangy texture and a finish that to be honest, gets a little cloying. Overall - we could be in ESB territory here. It could do with more bitterness though.
