This is the first incarnation of our Single Origin series, an experiment into the different flavours found across the hop growing regions of the world. Hold the glass up to the light and sample for yourself what fascinated Australian-born Bragg so much. Scattering across your pupils, like light through a crystal lattice, you’ll see this bright copper Australian hopped Pale Ale. Bursting from the glass, intense waves of passion fruit, mango and citrus hop flavours will diffuse into the aroma. On the tongue this bouquet explodes into juicy topical fruits, peach and oranges, tempered by a peppery edge, defined bitterness and solid caramel malt notes. This beer finished huge and juicy, thirst quenching hop flavours lasting well after you sip.

Keg at Maltings, York. It pours lightly hazy golden amber with a decent white head. The nose is fresh, juicy tropical fruits, passion fruit, tangerine, mango and dank hop. The taste is crisp, bitter, toasty, zesty, grapefruit, orange rind, floral, pithy, light soap and pepper with a dry finish. Medium body and effervescent carbonation. Crisp and rather drinkable. Nice one.

Draught @ Old Brick’s Inn, Jyväskylä
Aroma has fruity hops, peaches and some fruit candy. Flavour is musty with bush leaves, apricot, some grapefruit and herbal tones. Finishes with cereal. Bitter in a harsh way, apparently this hop profile just does not work for me.

(Keg at Pikkulintu, 20150313) The beer poured deep golden and almost clear. Its head was small and white. Aroma had black currant leaves, exotic fruits and malts. Palate was medium boded with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, black currant leaves, sweetness, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy and bitter. A good hoppy pale ale.

Cask. Somewhere in Leeds. Possibly. Clear, pale gold. Thin, sticky, lasting white head. Very pithy, orange zest hop. Drinks punchy, crisp and zesty. Palate is zippy and clean. Finishes big, pithy, hoppy bitter. Very good. Oh yeah. Friends of Ham...
