New look, same fresh taste. One of the all-time highest rated IPAs on RateBeer, AleSmith IPA is a west coast-style India pale ale icon. Bursting with massive hop aromas of grapefruit, pine, and tropical fruits from huge additions of Columbus and Citra, this classic IPA is perfectly balanced by a healthy malt backbone and smooth, bitter finish.

February 2015: 650 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.25%. Golden colour, only slightly hazy. Large white head. Pleasant hoppy aroma, notes of pine, caramel and grapefruit. Lovely and well balanced hoppy flavour, pine needles and grapefruit again, not extreme - just very well made.

Pint can that came from a good haul at an Austin Total Wine. And this beer was perhaps the most pleasant discovery. I have a snifter in place from a previous tasting, it'll work now. The view is a cloudy, off-yellow liquid finished with a steady skim of fully white, fine bubbles. An appreciated nose of pine, grass and citrus, old school obviously. And the taste now, not bad. Citrus leaning towards lemon and grapefruit, cedar, white bread, malt, a lemon drop sweetness and meadow. A good IPA, not my best. Moderately bitter and somewhat dry. Throwback and that is swell by me.

Clear golden with white head. Sweet malts, some thick rye notes and lots of pine/resin, grapefruit, floral notes, tea leaf bitters. Just medium sweet and moderate bitter. Medium body and soft carbonation. Oily feel. Throwback Thursday.

Tap at Craftsman Yokohama. Nice. Lots of fruit, citrus, decent maltiness, bit of nice tropical stinkiness, some resin. Nice stuff!

Bottle from FlacoAlto, thanks! Orange blonde color. Grapefruit and melon in the slightly perfumed oily hoppy aroma. Very firm oily grassy hopbitter flavor with grapefruit and pineapple, lingering on in the long aftertaste. Some plastic in the finish. Well balanced ale.
