Our first black IPA is resinous and fruity, with all the roasty flavours of a dark ale. It finishes with the distinctive characteristics of Amarillo, Chinook and Simcoe hops.

Bottle 330ml (from the brewery)
Dark brown color, good beige head. Delicious roasted, piney hoppy aroma. Medium-bodied. Roasted coffee, licorice and piney hoppyness in a good balance. Slightly weak maltyness in the aftertaste. Tasty, almost salty.

At a tasting, thanks, smallish head, deepish brown color, aroma of grapefruit, rose petals, dark bread and chocolate, flavor of chocolate and herbs with some fruit and citrus in the back, medium herbal bitterness. Quite nice.

Bottle. Opaque brown, creamy tan head. Big fresh floral hop aroma. Light to medium bodied roast and coffee malt base, licorice, spice - a bit agressive but balanced fine with the grassy hop bitterness. Quite exiting black ipa.

Pretty good balance, though more on the stout/porter side than the IPA side. Pours black with OK head and lacing. Roast and some light citrus infusion. Bittersweet finish. Very easy on palate. Tap at Churchkey.
