12 oz bottle from the Wheat Beer Variety Pack. Expired on July 21, hopefull it hasn’t deteriorated too much. Pours opaque brown with a medium collapsing beige head that falls into a resilient collar. Aroma consists of caramel, doughy bread, faint banana. Taste is...not very much like a dunkelweizen. It starts out sweet but quickly turns bitter. The clovey phenols and banana esters I love so much about this style are MIA or at the most, very faint. That being said, it’s not a bad-tasting beer, and I’m not rating to style, so it still deserves a 7 in flavor. Highly carbonated with a medium body. It’s a decent beer but it’s pretty far from Bavarian, not unlike their flagship Hefe.

Bottle. Mahogony beer with a tan head. Light toffee and light caramel aroma with light wheat. Caramel and wheat flavor with light toffee. Medium bodied. Caramel and light spice lingers with light wheat.

Bottle: Dark brown with a thin beige head. Mild nose is lightly malty. Taste is pleasantly rich with chocolate and roasted malt. Faint wheat. More like a porter than any dunkel I’ve ever had. Nevertheless it’s enjoyable.
