Handpull cask at the Ale Stone, Aylestone, Leicester. Dark brown and a little translucent with a loose beige/khaki head. Malty biscuit aroma, chocolate Horlicks and sweet cream in the aroma. Taste is sweet with a nice dollop of chocolate and a subtle hop bitterness at the end of the sip and increasing in the long finish. Oily body with soft to no carbonation. A well-made porter.

Pours black with a tiny bubbly beige head that disappeared. The aroma is roasted malts, coffee and a hint of liquorice. A moderately dry in the mouth roasted taste, roasted malt, black coffee, light liquorice flavours with a roasted bitter finish.

Near black with a frothy tan head and roasted malt on the nose, subtle hints of nut apaprent. Lovely and creamy, the flavour is a variety of roasted malt characteristics, there's some nutty notes, perhaps a hint of liquorice and coffee. Very smooth and very satisfying

Cask at Hops, Crewe Pours almost black with a frothy tan head and good lacing. There is an aroma of nuts and treacle which leads to a gorgeous combination in the mouth of black chocolate, liquorice, coffee and some roasted malts. Finish is bitter – with coffee grounds. This is an excellent beer !
