Panda at home, thanks to Kenneth, 04/09/24. Pitch black with a tan cap that soon dissipates to a swirl. Nose is dark malts, bourbon, spice, molasses, toffee, dark chocolate, booze, dates, figs. Taste comprises chocolate melt, hint of coffee, toasted brown sugars, boozey bite, bourbon barrel, toffee fudge. Full bodied, oily mouthfeel, semi drying close with a balanced rising boost. Solid BA impy.

21st August 2024
Near clear deep amber brown beer, small and pretty short lived pale tan head. Smooth and slightly viscous palate, good fine minerally carbonation. Soft rich dark malts, a good creamy dark chocolate. Very obvious booze in the mid. Light nutty chocolate cream richness with a good undertone of both bourbon and whiskey barrel aged ripe fruits. A little vanilla oak barrel before the smooth but boozy finish. A really solid and enjoyable fuck off brew from To Ol. And yet, at this abv, the likes of Angry Chair and what not, Hidden Springs etc would produce something stunning. So good, but not supreme.

bottle dark brown but far from black, light brown head. boozy aroma with strong notes of the bourbon barrelling, some wood, some rye, maybe, roasted malts, alc. seems to be a bit too strong for the flavor intensity so a bit unbalanced. flavor is really good, a good matchup and synergy from roasted malts and bourbon, vanilla adds to the composition but the roasted malts and bourbon dominates as they should. while the aroma 8 was a small 8, the flavor 8 is a big 8. Overall feel is a bit watery and a bit boozy, but the flavor is very okay and if you prefer your imp stout not thick and slightly boozy, it won't get better than this. some of the flavors very slightly lead me to think of quad's and barley wines.

Black beer, thin brown head. Sweet bourbon aroma with some malt and dried fruit. Flavour has the distinct bourbon again, sweet but not sickly and some boozy warmth to take the edge off the sweetness. Dried fruit, chocolate, vanilla, wood from the barrel, a hint of anise. Rich, warming and delicious.
