Poured from a 500 ml bottle. Aroma is very malt forward with lots of layers of caramel and toffee with lighter notes of burnt sugar and molasses. Faint notes of chocolate and roast. Hints of oak and light bourbon and alcohol notes. Pours a dark brown, but not quite black with a small, thin, dark tan head that only really develops on the edges before disappearing fairly quickly. No lacing and long legs. Flavor is somewhat sweet with lots of caramel and toffee notes. Lighter notes of burnt sugar, molasses, chocolate and roast. Hints of cherry, raisin and prune notes. Medium light bitterness and moderate alcohol notes. Hints of oak and light bourbon notes. Mouthfeel is fairly full bodied with low carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid barrel aged barleywine. Nice malt notes and decent bourbon character. Solid mouthfeel and the alcohol is well hidden.
