Clear amber, small offwhite heaf. Light caramel aroma. Watery, malty flavour. Perhaps traces of the promised "oak tree extract" - whatever that is. Yaaaawn...

Bottle looks really good. Beer in the glass brownish, small head. Starts mild, dry malty, rusty and metallically. Dry hoppy background. Finish boring malty, still quite dry. Okay.

Pours clear brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, floral, grain and faint hint of caramel. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter. Body is light, texture is thin, carbonation is soft.

Bottle. Pours clear amber with quickly vanishing white head. Clear aroma of hops and yeast with sparse malty notes. Bitter, hoppy flavour with notes of malt and a subtle touch of spices. Dry aftertaste. OK but nothing special. NOTE: It may be a new beer that has replaced an older one but retained the name. What I am drinking now is definitely not a Rauchbier, and the label says "gylden classic" (Amber Lager / Vienna), which the beer very much tastes like. The description on RB does not match the one on the label, either.

50 cl. bottle. Different label, as "Egebryg Gylden Classic", 5,2 % alc. and other description on the bottle. Clear, amber colour with a golden hue, bubbly, white head. Sweet aroma with caramel and lightly toasted malts, sweet fruits, no wood or smoke. Taste is light sweet and toasted. Medium body, soft carbonation. Finishes dry with lightly toasted malts and some frutiness. Bordering Carlsbergs products in terms of flavour - and at least Carlsberg is honest about their prodcuts - not trying to market their beers as something made in an idyllic forest. But really made in some Eastern European country, I guess. Label says the "EU"... This one has - besides a slightly more malty-fruity flavour - a distinct macro touch.

Bottled (bbe 10/2010, had in 05/2010). Amber colour, mediumsized slightly off-white creamy head. Aroma is caramel malts, some wood, cardboard, and mild earth. Flavour is quite much the same. No signs of smoke at all.

Bottled (BB 10/2010)
Clear amber color, small steady off-white head. Grainy, malty aroma - no smoke. Medium-bodied. Grainy, a bit grassy, toffeish flavor. Slighty harsh and woody finish. Odd bock, not rauchbier. Maybe you can trace smoke when it is fresh only?
